Phone calls impersonating the ATO has been raging recently.
Please be aware of phone calls such as:
- Demanding money for the reason of your tax file number being illegally used, leading to a possibility of getting arrested, which ATO does not do.
- Warning you about your outstanding defaulted tax payments and demanding to pay immediately. Individuals that do owe payments to the ATO should especially be aware.
